about us

Liverpool Mental Health Awareness (LMHA) understands mental health as personal development and well-being - emotionally, creatively, intellectually and spiritually.

Mental health can be demonstrated as the ability to:

  • initiate, develop and sustain mutually satisfying personal relationships.
  • face problems, to resolve and learn from them.
  • be confident and assertive.
  • be aware of others and empathise with them.
  • use and enjoy solitude.
  • play and have fun.
  • laugh at both myself and the world.
Just as there are many issues which can affect our lives and our mental health, we believe there are many ways in which we can promote positive mental health and awareness of mental distress.

Use the menu on the left to learn more about our work. See the pages on promoting mental health and projects funded for practical examples of mental health promotion.

PLEASE NOTE: LMHA is a small organisation which supports other agencies to achieve positive mental health promotion in their practice. We are not in a position to offer placements to students or support for those experiencing mental distress. Please see our Useful Links page for details of agencies which may be able to help.
